Music Magazine Front Cover Draft 1
This is my first front cover draft for my music magazine. I decided to go with the name 'RIOT!' because I thought it was short and easy to remember, also it fits in with the rock genre. The colour scheme I have chosen is black, red and white because I thought they were simple but bold so they stood out to the audience. The masthead font is from dafont.com and it is called 'Immortal', I chose this font because I thought it was quite 'rocky' and it fit in with the genre. I had my model wearing a leather jacket because it conotates the rock genre which makes it realistic. I have included a plug to make the magazine look more interesting to the audience and I used this shape so it stood out. In the skyline, I have used some bands name which I know are very popular so they would be good to appeal to the audience. I have used a barcode near the footer, which advertises the things inside, and I have put the price, date and issue number near the masthead so it is easy to find. I made the price £2.20 because I thought it was suitable for my target audience. I thought the gradient background was effective and made it look more interesting and appealing rather than having a plain white background. Having a plain white background would make my image, which has been cut out on Photoshop, unrealistic and messy. I used the Leeds and Reading 2014 announcements as one of my feature stories because I know existing rock magazines do this and the event is very popular. If I were to do this again and change things, I think I would add more feature stories and also experiment with different fonts for my masthead. Although I am happy with this finished draft, I still feel more needs to be done to it.
